Why choose this tour

Vicenza, the city of Palladio, is a must-see for those who appreciate art, architecture, and history.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994, this city in Veneto boasts a unique historical center,
shaped by the genius of Andrea Palladio, one of the greatest architects of all time.
Almost every corner of Vicenza bears the mark of the great architect. The Palladian Basilica, the Olympic Theater, Palazzo Chiericati, and Villa Rotonda are just a few of his masterpieces that have left a lasting impact on global architecture.
Beyond Palladio’s creations, Vicenza reveals other fascinating aspects, such as the Roman influence on urban planning, the captivating juxtaposition of centuries-old streets, bridges over waterways, and picturesque squares.

Details

The first part of our visit to Vicenza is dedicated to the city’s historic center. Here, we’ll explore the
the remarkable and rich palaces, both private and public, commissioned to Andrea Palladio by the
the most influential families of Vicenza at the time. In total, there are 23 palaces.
Along the ancient Roman Decumanus, Vicenza’s main artery, you can admire splendid examples of
Palladian architecture. In the Piazza dei Signori, you’ll find the Palladian Basilica, constructed in
elegant and solemn white stone. On the ground floor of the Basilica, there is a collection of jewellers, as
in Vicenza, the art of goldsmithing is a significant aspect of the local economy. Since 2014, the Palladian Basilica is home to the Jewelry Museum.
At the end of Corso Palladio, you’ll find Palazzo Chiericati, now a museum that honors the culture and
the Vicenza civilization.
Next to Palazzo Chiericati lies the Teatro Olimpico, the final masterpiece of the great architect.
It was commissioned by the members of the Accademia Olimpica. It was the first covered theater
built in the world, featuring classic scenic elements. After the death of Palladio, the theater’s work was completed by Vincenzo Scamozzi. The city of Vicenza is included in the list of UNESCO protected sites, part of the world heritage.
The first part of the visit to Vicenza, Palladian city par excellence, ends with the visit to the Olympic Theater.
The Palladian itinerary can be completed with a visit to two Venetian villas located outside Vicenza, on the surrounding hills. The first is Villa Valmarana, open daily, nestled in the Valley of Silence.
The Valmarana family still calls it home. This is a true gem, made extraordinary by the
frescoes by Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo, a father-son duo.
Just a short walk away, you’ll find Villa Capra, better known as The Rotonda, open only on select days of the week. Considered one of the most renowned and imitated architectural masterpieces of all time. The villa, designed with four identical facades,
blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. Book your exclusive private tour in Vicenza now!
